EL DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS

Tiempo de lectura:

1–2 minutos

«El día de los muertos» is a very important Mexican celebration to honour their dead.

In this celebration we set up a three-floor table (altar) that we decorate with a beautiful cloth, flowers and most importantly the pictures of the dead.

Normally In this celebration you eat typical Mexican food but my family and me sometimes bake cookys with the shape of decorated skulls and also sugar skulls. This is supposed to bring the dead from heaven to eat and people would also put the person’s belongings on the table for them to bring them back to heaven for example: clothes, personal decorations…

«El día de los muertos» did not originally have a day to celebrate until catholic religion reached America and settled it to a certain time.

Nowadays they do a parade and last year me and my family went to it on Mexico City with our Mexican family.

In my opinion its a very fun celebration both to watch and to make.
