This festival is celebrated in El Salobral (Albacete) and it means the potato festival.

The celebration is done the first weekend of October every year since 1974.

This festival started because El Salobral’s land is very good to cultivate potatoes, and so, that’s what they do.

They had so many potatoes that they decided to celebrate it with the rest of the village by giving grilled potato on saturday and fried potatoes on sunday.

All the potatoes that they cultivate are: Rpontia, Liseta, Agria, Fabula and Kennebec, this last one is the most famous.

But they don’t only do that, there are many other things they do in these days: Competitious of the heaviest potato and elaborated plates with potatoes, there are also workshops to do crafts with potatoes. They do verbenas, sportive competitions, chocolateada that is a reunion of the people in the village in where they share hot chocolate and a piece of cake… All these things are what form the festival of the potato (without mentioning that they are very yummy).

Me and my family go there every year and we have a lot of fun.
